To what lengths will a parent go to make their child happy? We all know that we’ll miss important events, that we’ll take care of our children when they’re sick, and that we’ll buy yet another loud plastic toy with small parts because they want it sooo badly.
This book is about the fun, fantastic lengths that a mom might go to for her little one. Skywriting, football playing, rock concerts, deep sea diving.. This book has it all. My son’s favorite line, of course, is “If I were an engineer, I would build a high speed train that lifts you off the ground and travels faster than a plane.” He’s two. ‘Nuff said.
THE STORY
The story is basically about the various fantastic things that a parent would do just “because you are my baby”. Each page has two lines of rhyming prose that are imaginative enough to keep the interest of almost any child, and that are lulling enough for this to be read as a bedtime story.
THE ILLUSTRATIONS
The illustrations were created using watercolors on paper, and are beautifully textured and colorful. A lot of little details in a simple style make it delightful for little eyes that like to drink in the details of everything they see.

BOTTOM LINE
Being a mama, my favorite line is of course the closing line of the book: “And if I were a genie, I would make your dreams come true… Because you are my baby, I would do anything for you.” How else can you summarize motherhood? Wishing for wondrous things to make our child happy. Sure, it gets a little sappy in places and a little goofy in others. Still, this little book is sure to make both your child and you smile.
