“In God’s Hands” is the beautiful tale of Jacob, a wealthy man so consumed with staying rich that he thinks about nothing but making money, and David, a poor man that can hardly feed his family. One day Jacob falls asleep in synagogue and wakes up briefly just long enough to hear one verse from a reading of the Torah. When he wakes from his nap he is sure that God has spoken to him and requested that he complete a task. David, the poor man is having trouble feeding his family and prays to God. The two men’s lives overlap and Jacob believes that he is doing God’s work, and David believes that God is answering his prayers. When the two men find out what has happened they feel foolish until a wise Rabbi shows them that they have been doing the work of God, and their hands are the hands of God.
This beautifully illustrated book with lyrical writing will appeal to your children on many levels while teaching them an important message that we often forget: We are the hands of God. We are the instruments with which he does his work on Earth.
Hardcover with a beautiful dust jacket. It has a “This book belongs to:” area that you can fill out with your child’s information in the front.
This book makes a great gift year-round. While the book obviously involves the Jewish religion, it has a message that should appeal strongly to anyone of any faith.
