Mysterio’s Encyclopedia of Magic is a thick paperback book that would be perfect for a boy in the 8-11 year old range. It consists of a wide variety of simple to learn magic tricks, with well thought out illustrations, and guides in order to help even the most klutzy child figure out the end result. I went through and attempted a couple of the beginning items, and was managing to do a pretty good job (in my own opinion anyhow.) The book itself is easy to read, and the content is appropriate for kids of all ages.

All in all a very appropriate gift for a young boy who you don’t wish to get yet another video game or action figure. Would hopefully encourage some interest in reading at an age where it is very hard to find appropriate material.
