I recently received the Ballparks of America “map” baseball, and am loving the detail and work that went into creating it. The ball itself is a hand crafted item, which is decorated with a map of all of the major ball parks in the United States of America. I was thinking it would be perfect for a young boy who was interested in baseball when I ordered it, but upon arrival, I think it would make a great addition to a collectors series of balls.

It is really well stitched, and very decorative. The ball itself comes with a brochure of other products that are sold by the company (all hand made) and I’ve never seen such a variety of product. What is a traditionally well known design (a baseball) has been reworked and created in different textures, patterns, and prints, all in a matter such that it is hard to tell that it was ever “just a baseball”. I’d love to have more of their products, although it seems like it would be a shame to actually play with them, they are so beautiful.
