When I took this little backpack out of the packing envelope, I was immediately impressed by the sturdy quality of the cloth and the overall cuteness of the puppy design. This is a great last minute gift idea for toddlers and younger children. It is made of organic cotton and rope, sustainable wood parts, recycled plastic components and is PVC and toxin free. The Ecogear motto? “Saving the world one bag at a time.�

THE DESIGN

I am reviewing the Puppy Pack design. This pack is also available in panda, pig and elephant designs. The puppy is a light tan color with a very simple face and padded nose/mouth area. One eye has a very cute white patch around it. It actually looks like a puppy’s head with one set of feet and floppy ears. The head contains the actual pack portion of the backpack. The straps are made of the same sturdy tan material with adjustable bottoms made of a rope material that is still sturdy and appears to be fray-proof. The hand loop on top is made of the same rope. The entire pack is made with organic cotton and sustainable wood parts.

To access the inside of the pack, you lift the puppy’s face flap by unhooking a small wooden peg/loop closure at the bottom. The inside top has a cinch mechanism that functions as a drawstring to keep the contents secure inside. The back of the puppy’s face and the interior of the pack are lined with a softer organic cotton that almost feels like a bed sheet with a high thread count.

QUALITY/DURABILITY

I am immensely impressed with the quality of the material used to produce this Puppy Pack. I have tugged and pulled on all the parts and have not heard so much as the popping of a single thread. This means the pack could be beaten up and heavily used by even the roughest toddler and it would remain intact. The texture of every part feels so solid that I doubt it would even fray or pill under normal wear and tear over time.

CARE/CLEANING

There are no cleaning instructions included with this pack but given the texture, I suspect most stains can be removed with a wet cloth and mild detergent. If it becomes very soiled, machine washing is probably a possibility, but given the fact that it’s made with cotton, air dry is probably the safest.

AESTETHIC

I cannot fully express just how adorable this backpack is. The puppy’s floppy ears and puffy nose are just really sweet and cuddly. I found myself wishing for an Ecogear bag for myself so I went to their website. They have a ton of products available for everyone. All have nice appearances and are environmentally friendly.

THE BOTTOM LINE

The Eco Zoo Puppy Pack is an adorable backpack that will be a hit with any young child in your life. It is sturdy, roomy and made of organic materials. When you purchase this pack, you are doing a little bit for the environment while offering a very cute and useful gift.
