These sterile adhesive bandages are a cute and different gift idea. Recommended for girls of all ages, they just might help your “brave girl cry a little less the next time she falls and skins her knee.

PACKAGING

Brave Girl-aids come in a hard plastic red box with a cartoon-like picture of a little girl standing under a tree on the front. The box is reusable even after you’ve used all the bandages. In addition to the 15 adhesive bandages, a free sticker in the shape of a star sporting the message “Girls Rockâ€? is included. The box says these sterile bandages are “for the skinned knees, scraped elbows, and other boo boos that BRAVE girls are bound to get.â€?

QUALITY

These bandages are standard-quality adhesive bandages. They have the standard perforations to allow skin to breath and are made of typical “Band-Aidâ€? material. Once you peel them off more than once, they don’t stick back to your skin very well. They are no more waterproof than your typical adhesive bandage, but don’t wash off right away when put under water.

DESIGN

Each Brave Girl-Aid has a logo with the name on it and a cartoon drawing of a little girl hanging upside down in a tree. The background is white and the design is black and red.

THE CONCEPT

Brave Girl-Aids are a concept that was developed by Ariel Fox, a young entrepreneur who wanted to make products that are empowering for young girls. She is the founder of Sticker Sisters, a company that also makes several different styles of stickers, shirts and other products with positive messages for girls. Ariel says, “I started Sticker Sisters when I was fresh out of those horrible middle school years. I wanted to do something to help other girls feel better about themselves. She started by making stickers with encouraging messages and now produces the other products mentioned above.

THE BOTTOM LINE

This package of 15 Girl-Aids retails for $7.95. At first I was a bit put off by the price but then realized that I just spent close to $4 on a box of 20 Spongebob Band-Aids from the store. They came in a regular, disposable cardboard box. Brave Girl-Aids come in a very cute, sturdy, reusable box that your daughter can refill or reuse any way she likes when the bandages are gone. Another possibility would be to refill it with regular adhesive bandages like a mini first-aid kit.

While I personally would not give bandages as a Christmas gift, I think they are a wonderfully different way to say “get well soonâ€? to any injured or hospitalized girl in your life. Also, if you have a little drama queen (like I do), they might encourage some perspective. I.e. “you’re so brave you get a Brave Girl-Aid for your owie.â€? How cool is that?
