This is the first pacifier keeper that I’ve used for more than a week at a time. When my son was still just a few months old he mastered the art of grabbing the pacifier ribbon of most pacifier holders and whipping it around over his head, hitting himself with the clip and setting off outraged yowling.
The clip style of the MAM Pacifier Keeper makes it much more difficult to yank off of clothing. Unlike most clips which are spring-style, the MAM keeper uses a sliding bar which rachets down over the notched plastic of the clip and clamps it into place. The most obvious benefits of this style of clip is that it can attach very firmly to clothing and straps without risking pinching sensitive skin or fingers, and there are no small internal metal pieces or pins which can be dangerous to a baby.
The rubber loop that you see in the picture can be used with MAM button-style pacifiers, or it can be removed and the velcro closure loop can be used with the more typical ring pacifier (Nuk, Avent, etc.)
The ribbon used in this pacifier is a great length for safety and convenience, and holds up very well against staining. The velcro loop holds up well over quite a few months of constant use.
The only downside I see of this Pacifier keeper is that I and other reviewers have had instances of them breaking and resulting in small jagged plastic pieces. In my experience this is rare and has only happened while adjusting the pacifier clip too quickly/firmly. The plastic pieces also present less of a hazard than the metal pins that are in traditional clip-style pacifiers, so IMHO this is still the safer option.
