The Stage 1 toothbrush has a thick handle with a small baby-sized curved head and very soft bristles. It is often sold with baby toothpaste that is multi-fruit flavored and fluoride free.

As most parents do, I started my daughter off with a finger toothbrush. And as most parents find out, once the baby gets teeth you DO NOT WANT to continue using a finger toothbrush. A quick trip to CVS later, and I had this finger-saving device in my possession.

The toothbrush itself feels slightly rubberized and made of a heavy weight plastic. It has a wide ergonomic hand grip which is wonderful for children that are starting to become interested in brushing their teeth themselves. Just make sure that you give their teeth a second going-over to clean the spots that they missed.

The tooth cleanser is a mild clear gel which tastes like fruit candy. It doesn’t foam and contains no fluoride, which means it’s safe to swallow. The sweetener used to make this gel appealing is Xylitol, a tooth-friendly sweetener that actually prevents bacteria overgrowth and helps to harden/re-harden tooth enamel.

My daughter loves brushing her teeth with this child-friendly toothbrush and toothpaste. She would always fight the finger brush because even my small fingers are a bit much for a baby to chew on. If I had known about this tooth brush early on, I would have started off with it instead of the finger-brush.
