Review:

Lansinoh is yet another thing that I wish I had brought to the hospital in my go-bag. I mistakenly thought that nipple pain couldn’t become *that* bad in the day or two that I was breastfeeding at the hospital. Unfortunately my little boy had a hard time figuring out how to latch on, and shredded my nipples in the process of learning. Even in their tender cracked and bleeding state, Lansinoh was able to ease the pain and allow me to continue breastfeeding pain free while the little one learned his latch and my nipples toughened up. Even better, it made the shower tolerable by protecting my nipples from the streams of hot water. It’s a must-have for every woman that is planning on breastfeeding. Since Lanisoh works by locking in the moisture- it’s also great for chapped lips or severely dry hands.

Pros:

Lansinoh is 100% medical grade pure lanolin. It contains no preservatives or additives and is safe to use while breastfeeding, a definite plus when the baby is squalling and you don’t want to irritate already sore nipples by scrubbing off a less-pure cream each time you feed your baby. It is also less stiff than other lanolin products that I’ve tried- a definite plus since you have to rub it onto already sore nipples. It provides almost immediate relief for nipple pain and cracks.

Cons:

The only down-side to Lanisoh is that it’s hard to get off your hands when you’re done rubbing it onto your nipples. But this applies to all lanolin products, as they protect the nipples from additional moisture or moisture loss.
Conclusion:

Must-have for nursing moms. This product is a valuable addition to diaper bags and go-bags.

  1. Very very soothing! A little bit goes a long way. And if rubbed on by Dad, could aid in the closeness and intimacy that often gets lost post partum.

  2. hehe lansinoh foreplay!
