EMU Wellies put other rubber boots to shame. They are made of a soft pliant rubber with a thick sole that protects your child’s feet in even more treacherous puddles and that provides a lot of wear, they are lined with Australian Merino Wool, and are deliciously comfortable.
AESTHETIC
These Wellies are most commonly available in a bright playful red, a multi-colored “EMU” print, or an adorable pink heart print (“EMU Love”). The buckle pattern, EMU logo at the heel, and white stripes at the top and on the sole are carried across the different styles.
A buckle detail on either side adds to the cuteness.
FIT
EMU boots are sized in youth sizes, and seem to fit slightly small throughout the size range. Of course, unlike other wellies boots there’s no need for thick socks with these boots. Consider having your child try them on in the store before purchase.
While traditional wellies come up to the knee, these seem to be more “mid calf” boots. Great for puddle stomping, snow use, and light wading.
Make sure you write the size down, as the size is on the sole so it’s prone to wearing down. Knowing what size your child wore last can help narrow down the fitting options when you have to buy the next pair of these boots.
QUALITY & CONSTRUCTION
These boots are made of a heavier grade of rubber, with a thick sole and a half inch heel. Both the upper and the sole are long-wearing.
The inside is fully lined with a fuzzy Merino wool that is soft, non irritating, moisture wicking and comfortable.
The rubber upper of the boot is shaped in a way that makes the boot easy-on easy-off with a simple flexing of your child’s foot, but which won’t come off accidentally if your child jumps, runs, or walks through sticky mud.
BOTTOM LINE
Rubber boots are a necessity, and EMU Wellies are a plush comfortable way of taking care of that necessity. They’re breathable enough for spring puddles and warm enough for winter snowstorms. Best of all, the snuggly interior makes otherwise boot-phobic kids more than happy to wear these boots outside.
