Bear Hugs are adorably fuzzy and warm and sort of remind me of a big-kid (or adult) version of a hooded towel, but with a pillow as well. And it converts into a backpack for ease of transportation.
QUALITY & CONSTRUCTIONÂ
The BearHug is made of a plush fuzzy hypoallergenic material that does not pill or shed. The edging and straps are made of fleece and all the other details are embroidered on. The backpack measures 14″ by 14″ and the wrap extends to about 68″ long and 68″ wide. It is not a perfect square as it has a slit that extends from the backpack portion down to 35″ from the bottom. This creates two “wings” that you can drop down over your shoulders, OR you can use the backpack as a head pillow and wrap the bottom over your lap. It is quiete versatile. Â Even when the blanket is pulled out of the backpack, two edges remain inside and this makes it so that the backpack retains a semi-padded feeling that is perfect for snuggling or using to rest your head.Â
BACKPACK
Inside the “Hug” is ample room for some sleepover gear. PJ’s, a toothbrush and toothpaste, a book, and even a light change of clothes. You can wrap these items into the blanket to make sure they stay wrinkle free and don’t risk getting lost.Â
On the outside of the hug under the bear is a pocket that’s great for keeping anything your child might want quick access to. The bear secures the pocket with two velcro closures.Â
WARMTHÂ
The material used for this wrap/backpack is fairly thick and very cozy and warm. Unlike some fabrics it doesn’t become chilly to the touch, and so it’s always very welcoming to snuggle down into. It’s a great wrap for kids to take along on sleepovers, to haul on the plane or train or to take in the car.Â
CARE
Machine wash warm, tumble dry low. The BearHug cleans easily. Folding it is not so easy at first but once you get a hang of it it’s simple enough for a kid to do.
The fuzzy material holds the smell of your laundry detergent and your child’s room well, making it a great security item for young children who are still mastering the practice of stay-overs or that are dealing with travel or a stressful move.Â
BOTTOM LINEÂ
This little backpack-pillow-wrap does a fairly decent job of multi-tasking and does a great job of keeping your child warm in a fuzzy and comforting way. It’s a really cute concept that has been very well executed. Other than being ever-so-slightly clumsy to re-fold (kids under about 8 will need help getting the wrap back into place), I can’t think of anything about this product that I don’t like. Cute. Fuzzy. Warm. It’s a great snuggle item for the winter, and is great year-round for sleepovers or wherever your child might need a bit of extra comfort.
