The JJCole Bundle-Me has seen me through some of the worst days of a NYC winter where I’d have opted to just keep the baby inside, were it not for a pediatrician’s appointment or the desperate need for groceries.
Now, all NYCers will know that it’s not always possible to quickly get a cab, or avoid walking or taking the bus. So how to keep a baby warm when it’s freezing outside and there’s no way to avoid being out for 10, 20 minutes?
Traditional blanket covers quickly fall off, or let wind blow in around the edges. Snowsuits can only be just so thick before the baby becomes immobile and very pissed off. Rain/Weather covers can keep some of the biting wind out, but not all of it. The solution, I’ve found, is the JJ Cole Bundle-me, a sherling and fleece zippered pouch that fits snugly and safely into a carseat or stroller. (With the snowsuit and weather shield added on for the super-cold days)
Pros:
The BundleMe has been crash-tested in carseats, so you know it’s safe to use. The zippers are smooth and not prone to catching on themselves or the fabric of the BundleMe. The shearling is luxurious and warm to the touch, and it holds up well with washing. The outer fleece layer is both warm and fairly stain resistant. The Bundle-Me is easy to install and does not interfere with the safety straps of most popular strollers and car seats (either 3-point or 5-point).
Cons:
As my husband says, the only downside to these is that they don’t make adult versions.
Conclusions:
A must-have if you live in a colder climate, or if it’s not that cold out but you just want to pop the baby into the stroller for a quick outing without dealing with layer upon layer of outerclothing. I’ll be buying the toddler version of this when my son outgrows his infant carseat.
